Services

BEST PRACTICES

At Denison Hearing, we offer a suite of services that identify, treat, and support hearing loss and tinnitus.  Our audiologist will measure your ability to understand speech and hear in background noise. We use a comprehensive approach to thoroughly assess and diagnose your hearing needs. This includes using the latest and best hearing aids and hearing aid technology.  We work with all different hearing aid brands at a variety of price points. The services we provide include the following:

Hearing Test

After we collect a comprehensive medical history, we will complete a diagnostic hearing evaluation. First, we will look in your ears using an otoscope. If wax needs to be removed, we will do that at this time. Next, we will complete tympanometry. Tympanometry puts a puff of air in the ear and checks how your eardrum is moving. This test would identify a hole or fluid in the eardrum. Finally, we will complete a hearing test. Hearing tests identify the degree and type of hearing loss. We can determine the possible cause of your hearing loss and figure out appropriate treatment plans. We will test the softest you can hear at each pitch, but we will also test your ability to understand speech in both quiet and background noise.

Hearing Aid Selection and Fitting

Hearing aids are the most common treatment for hearing loss. We use our expertise and the specifics of your hearing loss and lifestyle demands to help you navigate your options. We offer all major hearing aid brands at a variety of price points.  We have Bluetooth and rechargeable hearing aids. You will have a risk free hearing aid trial. Our audiologist will provide subsequent follow-up visits to program and test that your hearing aids are working optimally. Our audiologist completes real ear measurements/verification.

Hearing Aid Repair

Hearing aids are highly durable devices that are subject to daily wear and tear. This requires regular maintenance and care to ensure that your device stays in great condition. It is not uncommon to need repair work over the years. We provide in-house repairs. This includes replacing components like tubing, repairing hooks, fixing battery compartments, etc. We will provide loaner hearing aids if needed, so you are never without sound.

Earwax Wax Removal

Earwax is a natural substance produced by the ears. Sometimes, earwax can accumulate in the ears and cause hearing challenges, a sense of fullness or pressure in the ears, discharge, and tinnitus - a buzzing or ringing noise in the ears. Our audiologist is trained to carefully and safely remove earwax using different strategies including lighted curette and irrigation.

Tinnitus Treatment

Tinnitus is a common hearing loss symptom. Often described as a ringing, buzzing, or clicking-like noise; tinnitus can disrupt daily life in various ways. We provide useful tinnitus treatment that starts with an assessment. Learning more about how you experience tinnitus allows us to develop an effective treatment plan. Treatment options include tinnitus retraining therapy, sound machines, and lifestyle adjustments.

Custom Hearing Protection

Exposure to loud noise is a common cause of hearing loss. Loud noise can also exacerbate hearing loss symptoms. The best way to protect your hearing health is by wearing hearing protection. Our practice offers custom hearing protection which offers maximum support. This includes custom earplugs for musicians, as well as custom earbuds for items such as airpods.

Real Ear Measurement

Real ear measurement (REM), also known as real ear verification or probe microphone measurement, is a process used in hearing aid fitting to ensure that the hearing aids are providing the appropriate amplification to the patient's ear.
